It’s one of those things that we know we should do but probably aren’t... but it may just be the difference between having that healthy glow, or not.
We hear you, amongst your busy days remembering to moisturise is not your number 1 priority but there are a few reasons why you may want to bump it up the list, especially if it’s not looking quite as radiant as you’d like.
Do you live in a hard water area?
If you do, you’ll likely notice lime scale build up in your kettle and this same build up can be deposited onto your skin when bathing. Irritation and dryness are some of the most common signs that your skin is in need of some daily moisturising.
Are you often exposed to the elements?
Whether it’s spending your day working in the sun, or a windy morning run - the elements have the ability to compromise your skin's natural defences meaning all the more reason to top them up.
Is swimming your exercise of choice?
It’s hard not to love the water in Australia but frequent swimming can eat away at your skin's protective barrier making daily moisturising essential.
There may even be a prime time for you to lather on up depending on your routine with experts saying the best times to moisturise are;
- Before exercising
If the weather is particularly chilly or the air is dry, this can help reduce the dryness that may occur once your workout session has ended.
- After shaving
Shaving also removes the top layer of surface cells similar to an exfoliator. To help protect newly exposed skin from dryness, as well as soothe any razor irritation, apply a body lotion or moisturiser after shaving.
- Our favourite, before bed
Moisture is pulled out of the skin as we sleep, so applying a body lotion or moisturiser right before bed is key. Besides, soft and smooth skin is always a nice feeling as you slip into the sheets.
